Our guest for this session is Dr. Conrad Richard Fischer MD, CCFP, FCFP. Born and grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and has lived in Toronto, except for 3 years in Guelph, Ontario when he did a B.Sc. at the University of Guelph. He studied medicine at the University of Toronto and has practiced family medicine for 34 years in Pickering, Ontario, a city adjacent to Toronto. He initially practiced with a group of 4 physicians but in the last 12 years, was part of the West Durham Family Health Team in Pickering with 13 other physicians, collectively looking after over 20,000 patients in two sites. The team also included nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, a dietitian, a pharmacist, a care coordinator and administration staff, all connected by an EMR (electronic medical records) system. Dr. Fischer retired from full practice in July, 2020 but hopes to participate in training programs in family medicine after the pandemic ends.
