User Interface Design Workshop (online workshop)

The 2021 User Interface (UI) design workshop (ONLINE)!

The objective of this workshop is to introduce students to the basics of User Interface (UI) design and evaluation. The students will learn about the iterative nature of UI design and importance of prototyping. They will design a UI using a prototyping tool and evaluate each other’s designs.

The workshop is divided into five sections:

Section 1: Principles of UI design

Section 2: Discussion of the various UI evaluation methods applied in the industry and by the research community

Section 3: Using a prototyping tool, the instructor will design a simple application and ask the students to evaluate it

Section 4: The students will design their own UI for a simple application using a prototyping tool

Section 5: The students will evaluate each other’s designs

When: Tuesday March 2, 2021 – 1:00pm-4:00pm (EST)

The workshop will be presented by University of Ottawa professor Hussein Al Osman. Dr. Al Osman is the recipient of the 2013 Award of Excellence in Teaching by a part-time professor and the recipient of the Best Paper Award in the 12th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real-Time Applications.
