A day in the life of: Recent Grads Panel!

 

CREATE-BEST is pleased to invite you to the upcoming session of a series of seminars/webinars on the workday of a healthcare / public health professional. During each of these sessions, we invite a guest from the healthcare / public health sector and conduct a live interview with them. We will ask about their position in the organization, their daily activities, and their job requirements. The session will also allow for an open discussion with our guest for you to ask any questions about their workday!

Welcome to 2020 CREATE BEST Day in the life of seminar series. This year we decided to give it a spin and start the year off with a day in the life of panel with recent graduates in different academic levels. We want them to share how practicum placements, internships, volunteer work all helped them be successfully placed where they are today. See you there.

Our panelists


Dr. Faisal Arafsha received his Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa in 2019. He has over 10 years of R&D and consulting experience in the design of sensor networks, cyber-physical systems, and software-hardware integration with a focus on efficient data acquisition and analysis. He is currently a Senior Software Engineer at BRAEBON Medical Corp. and is involved in research and development projects specialized in medical devices for patient monitoring. During his time at the University of Ottawa, Dr. Arafsha has designed and developed several hardware/software systems in a variety of applications including patient monitoring, robotics, 3D scanning, and haptic feedback.

 

 


Mohammad Ghodratigohar is a Microsoft Azure certified cloud based big data scientist with years of hands-on experience in leveraging AI-driven in the application of machine learning and pattern classification techniques in computer vision, signal processing and geospatial big data analysis utilizing cloud resources in private and public sectors. Currently, he is contributing to the machine learning and data science portion of building Transport Canada’s next generation big data AI platform on Microsoft Azure through designing and developing AI models and data engineering pipelines for big data/geospatial data all on cloud. Mohammad earned his Masters of Applied Science in biomedical engineering with specialization and journal publications of machine learning in healthcare from university of Ottawa in 2019.

 

 


Adam Birosh obtained his bachelor’s in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering at Carleton University, and is currently enrolled as a senior medical student at Queen’s University. As a CO-OP student Adam worked at Ericsson Canada in the radio hardware division. His fourth-year engineering project involved the design of a concussion recovery assessment smartphone application. His current research involves the use of stereolithographic 3D printers to build models of human vasculature for procedural simulation in interventional radiology.

 

 

Our host

Dr. Namrata Bagaria is a physician with Masters in Public Health from Harvard University. She is a PhD Candidate in Digital Transformation and Innovation at University of Ottawa. She is Founder of Health 4.0 Leadership Network & Podcast, founder of Namology – life coaching, co-founder Healthy Skills Inc, Founder of Public Health Justice – Mumbai based charity and she sits student committees at uOttawa initiatives such as CREATE BEST & LIFE Institute.
