You want to make more professional Android apps?

This bootcamp is for you!


This advanced mobile app development bootcamp is tailored specifically for those who have experience with android programming, and would like to learn more about some of the advanced tools used in the industry. This workshop focuses on source control, continuous integration, and database integration.


Participants must have basic experience in Android Studio and java programming.

Please ensure you have downloaded the latest version of Android Studio on your laptop before coming to the bootcamp:


  • 12:00pm – 3:00pm
    • Introduction to source control
    • Introduction to git
    • Introduction to github
    • Hands on work:
      • Starting a project from scratch and linking it to git
      • Git commands (add, commit, push, pull…)
      • Link an existing project to git
    • Introduction to continuous integration
    • Linking github to Circle CI
  • 3:00pm – 6:00pm
    • Introduction to databases
    • Introduction to non relational databases
    • Introduction to Firebase
    • Hands on work:
      • Create firebase account
      • Link Android application to firebase database
      • Implement functionality to alter the database (add, edit, delete) from the Android application

About the instructor

This bootcamp will be presented by professorĀ Wassim El Ahmar

Wassim El Ahmar is a Ph.D. student and part time professor at the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Wassim conducts research in machine vision and deep learning. He has several years of experience in software engineering and database design, and has collaborated with private-sector industries on software engineering and machine vision projects.
